The Southwestern muscle car Nationals is the "Original" all makes all muscle car show in the United States!  Yes!  That's Right!  Matt Torres and his brother John, and soon to be wife Annette produced the first Southwestern muscle car Nationals in 1989.  Matt and John both showed restored muscle cars in the late 1970's and early 80's.

But they both noticed a distinct problem, the popular muscle cars shown at rod and custom shows never got judged fairly and always ended up in a conservative custom class or an original class with old restored Model T's!!!

And of course, they were never included in any of the Big Money cash awards.  This was soon to change!  In March 1989, a unique new kind of automotive event showcasing the most exciting, fun and fast vehicles ever to roll out of Detroit was born, the "Southwestern muscle car Nationals!"  All makes of muscle cars were invited to Albuquerque New Mexico for a three day celebration of American Performance vehicles.

Join us as we continue the tradition of remembering when cars had muscle!

If you love these cars like we do join us for a truly unique weekend that you will never forget!!  We cordially invite American Performance cars (Musclecars) with emphasis on original restored, survivor, street modified and factory/dealer built Supercars from 1958- present day with special invite to all years of corvettes 1953-present. From perfectly restored to original survivor you are invited. In other words that original unrestored 1967 Impala SS that you and your family  drove cross country seven times is just as welcome as that perfect nut and bolt rotissery restored 1970 HemiCuda!!!

Not only is this event unique in what it is! Our judged classes and competition are also truly unique. Ford, GM, Mopar & AMC  will not only compete in specific manufacturer classes but against other manufacturer similar vehicles.  Example: your 1969 Z/28 camaro not only competes in the camaro classes it also competes in the overall chevrolet class which also competes in the GM class Now here's where it gets fun!! you also compete in the TransAM class against the Boss 302's, the T/A Challengers, AAR Cudas, pontiac trans ams, Donahue related Javelins. It is the most fun you will ever have at a car show!

Whether you are a participant or spectator I can promise you this event will stir many fond memories! Maybe it was the first time you rode  in a big block chevelle or a  hemi roadrunner  and you could not peel your vertebrae from the seat as your buddy hit second.  Maybe it was the first time you heard that cool guy's BOSS 302 cruse through Sonic. Maybe it was just crusin with your girlfriend in your GTO. Join us and show your kids what you drove when you were cool!!
